Paul Radford

                                              

Paul Radford  has 48 years experience in banding and has been a Brass Player since he was 12 years of age. He was taught by his father the Late “Len Radford” who was well known for his brass teaching on the Sunshine Coast. 

 

A well known reputable trumpet teacher on the Gold Coast. He has taught many instruments of the Low brass family from Baritone, French Horn, Euphonium and Tuba as well as the AMEB syllabus from Grade 1 to Grade 8 for Brass and Woodwind to grade 4 levels. Paul holds a Griffith University certificate in Conducting and has attended numerous seminars and workshops and held in high regard for his music integrity.

A member of  Education Queensland from 1997 to 1999 on woodwind , brass and percussion as well as several private schools namely St Andrews Lutheran College, Trinity Lutheran College, Marymount College and recently Emmanuel College. Paul has achieved excellent results in Eisteddfods and is an experienced  conductor.

TEACHING HISTORY

                                     

Paul enjoys Brass Bands and regularly performs with the Surfers Paradise Brass Band. 

He has won 2 Australian championships on Trombone and 11 Queensland Championship wins on Trombone in the Brass Band movement. He has conducted Brass Bands, Concert Bands , Stage (Jazz) Bands.

In 2009 he gained silver in the Queensland Bass Trombone Championship at Bundaberg and Bronze in Gold Coast in 2010 and silver in Bundaberg 2011.

 

Awarded the Queensland Championships Trombone award in 2015 and 2016 and silver in 2014 where he was fortunate enough to play under many famous conductors, bands, and composers.

 

In 2015 and 2016 he was invited to perform with Northern Rivers Orchestra.

Paul says his most memorable and valuable experiences in music were: 

Holding the principal Trombone position with the Brisbane Excelsior Band for 17 years from 1973 until 1990.

Being selected for the St Mary's National Playoff (Sydney)in 1988.

Selected performer in the Australian Brass 1997 Tour of Queensland.

His performance in the World Championships, Brisbane 1988  Tenor Trombone solo championships where he ranked 2nd place.
